One of the 1st to market skate shoes, Vans Shoes have been around for over 40 years!
Started in Southern California in 1966 by Paul Van Doren, Vans have been supplying a non stop flow of great shoes to skaters and non skaters alike and they are still kicking today.
Initially the company didn’t make skate shoes but in 1975 they released the 1st skate shoe. The Blue Deck shoes were a big hit with skaters everywhere for their added support and high top ankle padding. From this shoe Vans took off as a leader in the skateboarding world.

Back then Vans offered a monthly contest to see what kids could come up with the best skate shoe design.
Besides skateboarding Vans shoes also branched into the surfing, music and punk rock scene.
In 1995 they started the massively popular Vans Warp Tour. An annual festive of live music and extreme sports. With as many as 100 bands playing each tour this has really become a big hit across the world.
